Amy Luers, new Executive Director for Future Earth, speaks in Kyoto on Research for Sustainability in the Anthropocene
A Special Lecture inviting Dr. Amy Luers was held at the Kyoto University on 20 October 2017. The Lecture brought together some 30 scientists from various fields of the global environmental change and sustainability research in Japan.
Dr. Luers took office as the Executive Director for Future Earth in September 2017. She has over 20 years experience working on sustainability at the intersection of science, technology, and policy.

The Lecture served as a good opportunity to connect and provide momentum to researchers working on sustainability in diverse scale and arenas.
The event was organized by the Future Earth Research Unit, Kyoto University and the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature. Participants included Prof. Fumiko Kasuga, Director, Future Earth Global Hub Japan, Prof. Tetsuzo Yasunari, a Science Committee member for Future Earth, and Prof. Hein Mallee, Director, Regional Centre for Future Earth in Asia.
