Future Earth session at the 16th Conference of Science Council of Asia
The 16th Conference of the Science Council of Asia will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 30 May through 1 June, 2016. The theme of the Conference is “Science for the People: Mobilizing New Technologies for the Sustainable Development in Asia” and it will focus on all areas of emerging technologies, success in their use in national development and the challenges faced by developing Asian countries in mobilizing new technologies for sustainable development.
The Conference will include a session on the Future Earth where the Future Earth Secretariat will introduce the initiative’s recent topics on the global level, and discuss challenges and perspectives in Asia. The session will also present the role of Future Earth in Asia as the knowledge and engagement hub, taking the example of Sustainability Initiative in the Marginal Seas of South and East Asia (SIMSEA), a new international research initiative led by the International Council for Science Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific following the design of the Future Earth.
