Workshop for a Future Earth Japan Strategic Research Agenda

On 21-22 January, 2016, a multi-stakeholder workshop took place in Kyoto, Japan, to discuss a Japan Strategic Research Agenda for Future Earth. 40 participants from governments, industry, NPOs, and researchers gathered to examine 645 candidate research topics collected through prior questionnaires and interviews, and identify priority research themes for Japan for a sustainable future.

The Workshop was organized by the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN), which hosts the Regional Centre for Future Earth in Asia, as a part of a research initiative funded by JST RISTEX to promote the Future Earth.

You can learn more about how a set of priority research themes for Japan was co-designed with stakeholders and its result at a designated webpage of the RIHN in the Japanese language. The webpage includes a detailed report of the process, a list of selected priority themes, illustrated brochure, and more.
