Ilse Esparza

Research Assistant, Canada

Ilse is a Research Assistant for the Sustainability in the Digital Age initiative and the Future Earth Canada Hub. She holds a M.Sc. in Renewable Resources from McGill University and a BSc in Biology from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de México (UNAM, Mexico). She has also collaborated in a number of research internships and volunteer work in Mexico, Panama, Indonesia, the USA, and Canada. Before joining Future Earth, Ilse worked as a conservation specialist at the NGO, Conservación de Islas, developing conservation strategies to protect insular species from introduced invasive species. She is interested in climate change, ocean conservation, seabird ecology, and chemical contamination. In her spare time, Ilse enjoys birdwatching, hiking, and reading.
