The 5th Seminar on Future Earth in Asia – inviting Paul Shrivastava, Future Earth Executive Director
Future Earth is a platform for global change research that seeks to develop transdisciplinary, solutions oriented, science for addressing challenges of human sustainability in harmony with nature. Global goals for sustainable development were signed by world leaders in September 2015. Implementing these goals will require scientific research, science policy dialogues and science society interactions for measuring and monitoring progress. Japan is home to both a global hub (Tokyo) and a regional centre (Kyoto) of Future Earth and plays a key leadership role in articulating scientific solutions for sustainable development. The seminar will explore possibilities of regional collaborations to facilitate implementation of global goals.
