The Committee aims to provide leadership within the scientific and academic community in China, and to educate and work with stakeholders to co-develop a resilient society. It aims to conduct in-depth studies of disaster risk governance mechanisms in order to support government decision-making processes relevant to disaster risk reduction, and to help business sectors assess risks and identify opportunities.

The Committee works closely with the Integrated Risk Governance (IRG) project, the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) programme, and with the International Society for Integrated Disaster Risk Management (IDRiM) to further develop and promote the integrated risk governance paradigm.
