Date: April 03, 2016
The third of four Future Earth workshops on the Water, Energy and Food cluster is co-hosted by the Japan-based Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) and the Regional Centre for Future Earth in Asia.
The goals of the workshop are to:
- Identify gaps in the understanding and ability to resolve Water-Energy-Food Nexus issues.
- Explore decision-making at the operational level as well as policy development at national and international levels in the Nexus with an emphasis on integrated management of energy and water, the links to bioenergy, the bio-economy, land management and the role of the public and private sectors.
- Identify observation types and essential variables, datasets, software platforms and tools.
- Identify pilot projects, research activities, and program strategies that allow Earth observations to be effectively integrated into decision-making within emerging Water-Energy-Food Nexus collaborations.
The workshop will be held at the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN) in Kyoto, Japan.
