The 7th Future Earth in Asia seminar: Including Future Generations in Discussions on Sustainability
While discussing the significance of the future generations as the philosophical groundwork for mankind’s existence in the future, the seminar will review the possible setbacks of democracy and market system in relation to the future generations, and present ideas of taking turns among generations with holistic legacies including natural environments.
“Future design” is a new framework that attempts to represent imaginary future generations in decision making processes with major implications for the future. The seminar will present the framework and its first participatory deliberation in Yahaba town, Fukushima, and discuss its implications for further development and implementation.
The seminar will be organized by the Future Earth Unit of the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature.
