Transdisciplinarity for Early careeR Researchers in Asia School

In 2019 the Future Earth Asia Center, in collaboration with the Research Institute for Humanities and Nature, spearheaded an introductory course on transdisciplinary research for young researchers and practitioners in the Asian region, dubbed the TERRA School (Transdisciplinarity for Early careeR Researchers in Asia School). The TERRA School promotes and builds capacity for transdisciplinary research, where researchers and societal stakeholders work together to address challenges facing humanity in Asia. It is envisioned to be a cultivation encounter, aimed at creating awareness of what transdisciplinarity can offer and the challenges involved in its implementation.

The course in 2019 featured lectures, workshops and interactive sessionsĀ  on theories and practice of transdisciplinary research. It included structured learning on tools and methodologies used in TDĀ  and introduction to the various TD research at RIHN. A field visit and interaction with local stakeholders in Kameoka City, Kyoto provided on the ground exposure to participants to a component of FEAST project. Participants went through group-work exercises to develop TD project concepts by the end of the course.
